On Tuesday 25th October 2011, Liber8 Lanarkshire’s Youth Steering Group were presented with their Intermediate John Muir Award. Although the John Muir Award isn’t a new venture for Liber8’s StreetBase Programme, it was a first for Liber8 at this higher level of achievement. On the night of the ceremony, the staff and young people shared their experiences in addition to watching the DVD which was developed to show the journey.
T Penman, Head of Services spoke of Liber8 Lanarkshire’s Youth Steering Group as being a significant part in all of the services under the banner of Liber8 where Youth Voice is shared and encouraged. It is a testament to their hard work in coming together as a group which we gather to celebrate but its also important to state that the work of the group is far from finished.
A special mention was given to Stewart from the David Livingston Centre who greatly assisted the group to develop their conservation work in the grounds of the centre. In addition, praise was given to the National Trust for Scotland for hosting the ceremony and for being active partners in the journey of these particular young people.
Representation was given by the N.T.S where there was a shared vision for continued joint work in the future.
Special thanks to Trish, Nikki and Robert for their hard work from the initial group start up through to the award which for their own endeavour’s, they also picked up on the night.
